what changes in the islands
The Balearic Islands have their own rules for taxes such as inheritance, wealth and property transfer tax, and their own tourist tax. If your company or your assets are in the islands, it is worth taking this into account when planning.
Stays in tourist accommodation
Hotels, tourist apartments and holiday rentals charge their guests the tourist stay tax, with rates by category and season that were revised in 2026. If you manage accommodation, we help you charge it correctly and file the returns.
100% relief for close family
Children, spouses and parents have a 100% relief on inheritance tax, and family businesses can apply a 95% reduction. Balearic civil law also allows succession agreements to plan the handover during your lifetime.
ITP from 8% to 13%
Buying second-hand property is taxed in bands, from 8% up to €400,000 to 13% above €2 million. There are reduced rates for main homes and for young people buying their first home, and a special rate for newly created companies.
€3 million tax-free allowance
The Balearic Islands raised the wealth tax allowance to €3 million, on top of the main home exemption. For larger estates we also review the Temporary Solidarity Tax on Large Fortunes.
