The Community of Madrid uses its regulatory powers to have one of the lowest regional tax burdens in Spain. For a Madrid company or business owner, knowing these reliefs makes a real difference when planning inheritances, gifts, property purchases or their own wealth.
99% relief for close family
Spouses, children and parents get a 99% relief on the tax due, on both inheritances and gifts. Since July 2025, siblings, nephews, nieces, uncles and aunts get a 50% relief.
100% relief
Madrid applies a 100% relief on Wealth Tax. For the largest estates, the national Temporary Solidarity Tax on Large Fortunes must also be reviewed.
6% ITP on property
Buying second-hand homes and premises is taxed at 6%, one of the lowest rates in Spain. It is a key figure when comparing the cost of a property investment.
Lower-cost succession
Combining these reliefs with the family business reductions, handing over a business in Madrid can have a very low tax cost. We prepare it in advance with a family protocol.
